Shiretown Nursing Home is a long term care
facility licensed by the Department of Health to
provide nursing and personal care services to
eligible individuals .
This facility, located in the Town of Pictou
, was originally built in 1975 and was operated
as the Edward Mortimer place .In the late 1980s
the home was purchased by the present owner,
Brian MacLeod, President of the MacLeod Group.
This is a Nova Scotia based company with
headquarters in Antigonish , which operates five
nursing homes in the province.
The home has accommodation for 89 residents
and provides nursing home services as well as
residential care services. The residential care
wing has 17 private rooms . Residents who reside
in this wing are able to transfer into the
nursing home section as their care requirements
change and vacancies occur. The main home is
comprised of 14 private rooms , 27 semi-private
rooms and one four bed ward.
